Kuma was born in Missouri (probably at a puppy mill because apparently Missouri is just saturated with them) and we "rescued" her from Petland (we know, we are not as noble as some of you who ACTUALLY recue animals, but there are no Eskie breeders anywhere close, and we needed a puppy so we could train her to love Kyu). We had been going to the pet shop frequently to figure out what breed we liked (I originally liked Corgis...then found out they were crazy... then thought that Eskies would be agreat alternative... and wow... she fooled us into thinking she was not crazy!)
A certain weekend when we visited the pet shop, we were hoping to play with an Eskie, but there were none available that day. We asked when they would be getting more, and the girl told us Monday. So we naively go to the store on Monday, thinking we would "just go and look". Of course, that was the day we bought Kuma. No other words could describe the day we met her but "love at first sight".
The next day, we were feeling a lot of buyer's remorse. She was expensive, she was not potty trained (and trust me, it is a NIGHTMARE. I had to wake up in the middle of the night for about a month to take her out because she couldn't hold it), and we were just plain stressed from studying for the bar and planning a wedding simultaneously.
But as any parent will tell you, the tough times are totally worth it for all the joy that kids (or pets) bring into your life. That is exactly the way we feel about Kuma. So Happy Birthday to Kuma! Mommy and Daddy love you very much <3
